Bichons only, please

All pets must be current on their vaccinations. Please note that if your bichon needs a bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine, it takes two weeks to get to full efficacy -- so please get the vaccine as soon as possible. You may want to refer to our page on Vaccinations.

No male dogs over six months old that have not been neutered.
Female bichons in heat must not attend.
Montgomery County has a leash law, so be certain to bring a leash with you.
You will need it whenever your bichon is outside the fenced area. You must also scoop your dog's poop.
Bring a picnic lunch for you and your family to enjoy. We will be renting tables and chairs so you won't need to bring them.
Bottled water & canned soda will be available for purchase, with proceeds to Rescue. Homemade desserts will be provided at no charge.
Watering stations will be provided for the dogs.
Bring an adequate supply of poop bags.
In order to be able to return to the park for future events, we must be diligent in cleaning up after our bichons and ourselves, properly disposing of trash.
NO SMOKING within the fenced-in area. Properly dispose of cigarettes if smoking in other areas of the park where allowed. Please watch signs for approved areas.

or connect with pets now at the Rainbow Bridge.
Diane is recognized as one of the world's foremost pet psychics
and she will be offering individual sessions at the Bash.

Reserve your session with Diane now!

Reading for 1 pet in household = 15 minutes and costs $40.00

Reading for 3 or 4 pets in same home = 30 minutes and costs $80.00

Diane donates a portion of each session to Bichon Rescue!

Ask the Vet!

Dr. Adrienne Cardella, a veterinarian from Kingsbrook Animal Hospital in Frederick, MD,
will host the "Ask the Vet" table where you can ask questions about the care of your bichon.

The veterinarians and staff of Kingsbrook Animal Hospital have been treating the bichons of
Maryland Bichon Frise Rescue (as well as many bichon families in Maryland & Virginia) for nearly 15 years.
They know bichons (as well as other dog breeds, cats, rabbits, birds, and more)!

Feel free to ask questions about allergies, hot spots, tear staining, teeth cleaning, importance of weight control, behavior issues, or other topics that will help you become a better guardian of your bichon.

To learn more about Kingsbrook Animal Hospital, visit their website.

OUR FEATURED SPEAKER

The Year of the Pet Food Recall:
What Should You Know About the Food You Give Your Pet?

Dr. Frances (Fran) Kallfelz, DVM, PhD
James Law Professor of Medicine (Nutrition)
Cornell University - College of Veterinary Medicine

Dr. Kallfelz will discuss the commercial pet food industry, the recent pet food recall, and how pet foods are regulated within the United States. Fran Kallfelz is one of only 7 members on a National Pet Food Commission that was established by the Pet Food Institute after this year's pet food recall. This commission was set up to:
1) Investigate the cause of the recent pet food recall, and
2) Recommend steps that industry and government should take to further build on safety and quality standards that currently exist

Dr. Kallfelz will do a brief presentation and then field questions from Bash attendees.

Cornell's College of Veterinary Medicine was ranked the best in the nation in U.S. News & World Report's 2008 edition of "America's Best Graduate Schools," released March 31, 2007.
The college has consistently been ranked at the top since 2000.

"Our faculty strive to maintain our reputation as the premier program in veterinary education, supported by a world-class animal hospital and Animal Health Diagnostic Center," said Donald F. Smith, the Austin O. Hooey Dean of Veterinary Medicine. "This ranking by our peers across the country also reflects the quality ofour research and graduate education, including the emphasis on collaborations with the physical sciences, biological sciences and engineering programs at Cornell."
