Rex is Ready!
You Can't Resist Rex's Smile!

Rex is a darling, nearly 2 yr old bichon who weighs just under 14 pounds. He is a fun-loving little guy with lots of energy! He has taken over just about every toy in his foster home and loves tossing them in the air and then catching them!

Rex was teased and taunted by children in his previous home so he should not go to a new home where there are small children. Rex will do best in an experienced dog owner's home, as he does have a mind of his own when he doesn't get his way!

Rex loves to go on walks and will try to let you know when he needs to go out.
He is neutered, microchipped and current on all of his shots.

REX HAS BEEN ADOPTED!

Buffy "Before"
Buffy "After"

Buffy came into Rescue on Halloween after being in a county shelter and one of their vet's offices for over one month. She was only hours away from being euthanized before a Rescue person stepped in to save her life!

Buffy was a stray dog so we do not know her background.
Although she has the face of a puppy, we estimate Buffy is approximately 10 years old.

Buffy's teeth were the worst we had seen in a very long time! She needed extensive dental work done. She also was anemic, had horrific bacterial infections, giardia and kennel cough.

BUFFY UPDATE - February 2008

Buffy has responded well to her medical treatment! She quickly got over her giardia and kennel cough. It took a little longer, but she no longer has the continual infections she had when first arriving in Rescue. Due to Buffy's ususual anatomy, she is prone to UTI's and will need her "private parts" to be kept clean as well as periodic urinalyses to be sure she stays infection-free.

Buffy is ready to be adopted by a family who will be very lucky to have this darling dog
who
loves brisk walks and then cuddling with you at home!
She will require being fed a special prescription food available from your vet and regular urinalysis checks to be sure infections haven't returned.
Other than that, all she wants is a family who will love this
very special girl!

BUFFY HAS BEEN ADOPTED!

Poor Roscoe!!! He was a stray taken to a local county shelter. When the shelter realized he was heartworm postive, they called us because they would not be able to place him. Roscoe is now going through extensive (and expensive) heartworm treatment, and will not be available for adoption until he has completed treatment and been rechecked in late March or early April. He also will be neutered before he is adopted, but that can't be done until his heartworm treatment is finished.

Since he was a stray, we don't know his background but it appears Roscoe was mistreated in his past, so he should not go to a home with small children and would do best in an experienced dog owner's home. He is very strong-willed and can be pushy when scared.

It is assumed that Roscoe is only 2-3 years old and he weighs about 15 pounds, but will weigh a bit more when he has a little weight put on his skinny body.

Even though Roscoe will not be available for a few more weeks, if you are interested in him you can submit an application now.

ROSCOE HAS BEEN ADOPTED!

HERE'S HADLEY!

Hadley was found while one of our volunteers was helping a bichon owner look for her lost bichon. They did not find her bichon ... but DID find a different lost bichon, now named Hadley. This little guy was on his own in the "big bad world" for approximately three months, having to scavenge for food, protect himself from predators, avoid being hit by cars as he crossed streets, and deal with being alone and scared all day and night. The photo on the left was how Hadley looked when he was first found. His coat was totally matted and infested with ticks and tick nests, as well as pieces of twigs, other bugs, etc.

Needless to say, Hadley was afraid of most things when he was found: people, noise, movement, touch. He even scared himself when he moved! Slowly but surely he is starting to trust again. But through it all, Hadley has remained a very sweet boy. He is starting to play with toys and other dogs. He is just starting to learn to walk on a leash and is not yet housebroken. It was more important to work on his anxiety issues first (he is wearing an Anxiety Wrap™ in the photo on the right; that is one of the gentle tools being used to help Hadley). Now his foster mom is working on those other basics.

You can learn more about Hadley's story HERE.

Update - Hadley has been adopted!
